1. 📸 It All Starts With That Photo
Once you place your order, you’ll upload a photo of your pet (or multiple pets!). Whether it’s a sleepy snoot, a proud pose, or their signature head tilt — we love seeing their little personalities shine through.
Not sure which one to choose? Don't stress — we offer unlimited revisions, so you can tweak until it’s perfect.
2. ✏️ Hand-Drawn By a Real Artist
We don’t use filters or AI generators. Every single pet portrait is hand-drawn by a real artist on our team, who captures your pet’s unique expression, ears, fur, scales, or fluff exactly as they are.
This is where the magic happens. We spend time perfecting the little details — that one floppy ear, the tongue that always sticks out, the slight squint when they smile.
You'll receive a preview to approve before we stitch — and we won't move forward until you love it.
3. 🧵 Digitised for Embroidery
Once your drawing is approved, it’s transformed into a stitch-ready file — a process that converts the illustration into embroidery paths for our machines.
This step takes time and precision — it’s what allows our embroidery to look like a piece of art, not just thread on fabric.
4. 👕 Stitched with Love (and a Lot of Skill)
Your approved design is then stitched onto your chosen product — whether it’s a cosy sweatshirt, a crossbody bag, a tote, or something special.
Each item is embroidered in our UK studio, right next to where our very first pet portrait was stitched (for our rescue dog, Lola — the original muse of Lucy & Lola 🐶).
5. ✨ Packed & Sent to Its New Home
Once stitched, your item is steamed, quality-checked, folded, and carefully packaged — usually alongside a free gift or thank-you card (because we appreciate you so much).
And just like that, your pet is immortalised in thread and sent off to be worn, loved, and shown off forever.
