Lucy & Lola started with one very special dog.
After rescuing Lola, I quickly became completely obsessed with her — like most pet owners do. She wasn’t just a dog… she was everything.
I started drawing her, trying to capture her personality and all the little details that made her her. That’s where it all began.
🧵 From One Dog to Thousands
What started as drawings soon turned into something more.
I got my first embroidery machine and began turning those illustrations into stitched designs — something you could actually wear and keep.
Not long after launching, everything changed overnight.
We were featured by CNN just a few months after starting… and suddenly, orders started pouring in.
Very quickly, this became more than just a small idea.
🚀 Going All In
Soon after, I left my job (with a little push from being made redundant), and Lucy & Lola became full time.
My now husband Andy joined me, and we built the business together:
- I focused on illustrating each pet
- Andy learnt how to embroider every design
Together, we turned Lucy & Lola into what it is today.

Since September 2021, we’ve:
- created over 200,000 embroidered pet portraits
- shipped orders all over the world
- built a community of 450,000+ pet lovers
Everything is still made to order in our UK studio in Cambridge.
