Logo embroidery for business, stitched in Cambridge

We put your logo on your team's clothing, and a different name on each piece if that is what you need. Polo shirts, sweatshirts, fleeces, jackets, caps, aprons and bags, embroidered in our own studio at Copley Hill Business Park in Cambridge. There is no minimum order.

This page is for businesses ordering branded clothing. If you came looking for a custom pet portrait, that is the rest of our site.

There is no minimum order. We will embroider one piece.

Most commercial embroiderers will not. Setting a job up is the expensive part of embroidery, so a conventional studio puts a minimum of ten to twenty-five pieces on an order to make the setup worth doing. That is a sensible way to run a shop that is built to produce two hundred identical garments at a time.

We are not built that way. We run 29 machines in one studio, putting a different design on nearly every item that goes through it, because that is what our work has always been. Individual personalisation at volume is our ordinary day, not an exception we have to make room for.

So twelve tunics, each with a different name and role, is a normal job here. So is one more tunic in three months when somebody new joins.

What we can embroider

If you already know the garment you want, send us the brand and style number. If you do not, tell us the job your team does and we will suggest options.

Staff uniform

Polo shirts, shirts, sweatshirts, fleeces and softshells for a team that needs to look the same.

Workwear

Jackets, gilets, aprons, tabards and caps for people working outdoors or on their feet.

Branded extras

Bags, towels and accessories carrying the same logo as the uniform.

Individual names and roles, not just a logo

This is the part most embroidery suppliers quote badly. A studio set up for identical runs treats "every garment different" as a special case and prices it like one. Here it is the default setting of the room.

  • Your logo on every garment, with a different name under it on each one.
  • Names with job titles, so a customer or a visitor knows who they are speaking to.
  • Mixed sets. Some pieces with names, some with the logo on its own.
  • One more piece later, matching the ones you already have, when a new person starts.

Tell us in your enquiry whether items need to differ from each other and what goes on each. If you have a list of names and roles, send it and we will work from that.

Embroidery, not print

Your logo is stitched into the fabric with thread, so it does not crack, peel or lift away the way a printed or vinyl mark can. We do not screen print, we do not DTG print and we do not apply vinyl. If your artwork belongs on a press rather than under a needle, we will tell you that instead of taking the job.

Who you would be working with

  • 29 embroidery machines, run by our own team
  • One studio, at Copley Hill Business Park, Cambridge
  • Embroidered in-house. Not printed, not outsourced, not sent abroad
  • Trading since September 2021
  • More than 75,000 customers served, and 4.9 from over 10,000 reviews

Those last two are consumer numbers, from our pet portrait business, and we are not going to dress them up as a trade track record. We give them because they are the thing we can actually evidence: a floor with 29 machines on it, staffed, running at volume, in one place you can come and look at. That is the part a trade buyer is usually weighing.

How a quote happens

We quote per job. Six things let us price it properly first time, and an enquiry without the quantity and the artwork cannot be quoted at all, so it is worth a couple of extra minutes now.

  1. The garment. What you want embroidered, with the brand and style number if you have one, plus colours and the size breakdown if you know it.
  2. The quantity. How many pieces, and whether this is a one-off or something you would reorder. One is a real answer.
  3. Whether each item differs. Tell us if pieces need individual names or roles, and send the list if you have it.
  4. The artwork. Do you have a logo file, and in what format? Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) are best. A PNG or JPEG can often be worked from, but may need redrawing for stitch, and we will tell you before you commit to anything.
  5. The deadline. The date you need them in your hands, and whether that date is fixed or flexible.
  6. The placement. Where the logo goes, for example left chest, centre back, sleeve or cap front, and roughly how wide you want it.

Plus your business name and a phone number, so we can call if something about the artwork is quicker to sort out by voice.

  1. You send those answers.
  2. We look at your logo. We tell you whether it will stitch as it is, or whether it needs redrawing for embroidery, and what that involves.
  3. We price it and give you a date. You get the cost and the date we can hit, in writing, before you commit to anything.
  4. You approve, and we stitch it. On our own machines, in Cambridge.

We have deliberately not put prices or turnaround times on this page. Both depend on the garment, the stitch count of your logo and how many you need, and we would rather give you a real figure for your job than a headline figure we then have to walk back.

When we are not the right studio for you

Worth saying plainly, so neither of us wastes a week finding out.

  • If you need printing, not embroidery. Large block artwork, photographs and fine gradients belong on a press, not a machine with a needle in it. If that is your job, we are the wrong call and we will say so.
  • If unit price on a large identical run is the only thing that matters. We are one studio in Cambridge running our own machines. A high-volume supplier working offshore will usually beat us on five hundred identical polo shirts, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Where we win is the job they do not want: small numbers, individual names, and a reorder of one.
  • If you need it in days. Tell us the date before anything else. We would rather turn a job down than take it and miss the date you actually needed.
  • If your logo will not reduce to thread. Some artwork does not survive being reduced to thread, particularly very fine lettering, thin detail or tight colour gradients. We will tell you what your logo will look like stitched before you order, not after.

Questions we get asked

Do you have a minimum order quantity?

No. There is no minimum order and we will embroider a single piece. Most embroidery suppliers set a minimum of ten to twenty-five pieces because they are built around long identical runs, and setup is the expensive part for them. We run 29 machines putting a different design on nearly every item, so one piece is ordinary work here rather than a favour.

Can you put a different name on each garment?

Yes, and it is what we do all day. Your logo can go on every piece with a different name, or a name and a job title, under it. Send us the list of names and roles with your enquiry. You can also come back later for one more piece to match a set when somebody new joins.

What can you embroider our logo on?

Logo embroidery usually goes onto polo shirts, sweatshirts, fleeces, jackets, caps and aprons, and we can also do bags and accessories. Tell us the garment you have in mind, with the brand and style number if you already have one, and we will confirm what we can do with it.

Can you work from the logo we already have?

Usually, yes. Send it in the best quality you have. A vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) is ideal. A PNG or JPEG can often be worked from, though it may need redrawing so it will stitch cleanly. We look at your artwork and tell you which of those it is before you commit to anything.

How long will it take?

Put the date you need them by in your enquiry and we will tell you whether we can meet it before you order. Timing depends on the garment, the size of the run and how much work your artwork needs, so we confirm a date in writing when we quote rather than publishing a standard one here. The turnaround on our consumer pet portraits is a different operation and does not apply to trade work.

What does it cost?

We quote per job. The cost depends on the garment, the stitch count of your logo and the quantity, which is why we ask for all three up front. Send us those and you will get a real figure rather than a range.

Where is the embroidery actually done?

In our own studio at Copley Hill Business Park in Cambridge, on our own machines, by our own team. We run 29 embroidery machines there. Nothing is printed, and nothing is sent out to a third party or overseas.

Can you embroider garments we supply ourselves?

Tell us in your enquiry what the garments are and we will let you know. It depends on the garment, because not everything can be run safely through a machine, and it is better that we look at it than guess.

Send us a trade enquiry

Email is the surest route. The button below opens a message with the questions already in it, so you can fill it in and send.

Email your logo file with your enquiry. Send the artwork to andy@lucyandlolashop.com with your business name in the subject line, and include the answers above in the same message. Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) are best, but send whatever you have and we will tell you what it needs.
